For two decades, Divers/Cité has celebrated diversity with week-long festivities involving music, free movies, live performances and more! A champion of the city’s LGBT community (having organized Montreal’s first Pride celebration in 1993), it welcomes all Montrealers with open arms.
This year, the festival kicks off Monday, July 30th with a free screening of Ferzan Ozpetek’s 2010 film, Mine Viganti, presented in its original Italian version with French subtitles at Parc Lafontaine (9pm).
The celebrations pick up two days later on August 2nd at the Old Port with 1, Boulevard des Reves, the province’s favourite (and longest running) variety show. Hosted by the fabulous Marleen Menard, the live show welcomes a barrage of performers including Marie-Denise Pelletier, Stefie Shock and Alexandre Désilets.
Drag Queen extrodinaire: Mado
For the remainder of the week, Old Montreal keeps the ball rolling with Arcade Fire and Brazilian DJ Queen, Ana Paula on August 3rd, Drag Queen extrodinaire Mado on the 4th and veteran DJ/Producer David Morales on the 5th. In all, a near-30 shows grace the area!
